In 2013, Martis Camp Club was honored to host the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, won by Scottie Scheffler. In 2019, the Martis Camp Club Board of Directors accepted an invitation from the United States Golf Association to host another championship, the 68th U.S. Senior Amateur.  We’re thrilled to have hosted this championship and shared with the world the esteemed status of our Club and Member experience.

History of the Senior Amateur
The remarkable growth of senior golf prompted the USGA to establish the U.S. Senior Amateur Championship in 1955, for players 55 and older. Many senior golf associations had come into being on the local, state and regional level, demonstrating that the competitive instinct amongst senior golfers is not diminished by age.

Great Clubs Host Great Events
Of his experience at Martis Camp Club for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship, Scottie Scheffler (above ) said recently, “Martis Camp is truly an awesome place and I had an amazing time winning the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur there. The golf course is beautiful, a great test of golf, and worthy of hosting any USGA Championship. I feel like that experience helped me take the next step in my golf career and I will always have a connection to Martis Camp. I look forward to seeing who becomes the next USGA champion crowned there this year.”

The Martis Camp Foundation (MCF) is partnering with Martis Camp Club to bring the U.S. Senior Amateur to Martis Camp. Founded in 2010, the MCF has granted more than $3.3 million to the Truckee/North Tahoe community. Funds are awarded in the form of community grants to local nonprofit organizations and college scholarships for high school graduates in need. Additionally, the MCF provides scholarships for qualifying Martis Camp employees and their children so that they may fulfill their education goals and/or continue their career education.
